Dorothy Stopps died on 5th July, after increasing health problems in the last few months of her life.

There will be a memorial service at 13:00 on Monday 12th September at St Peter's Cogenhoe. There will be ringing before the service, starting at 12:15, and again after the service.

Giles Willson is aiming to arrange a quarter for Dorothy, please let him know if you would like to be involved.

Dorothy rang for the 50th anniversary of the accession earlier this year and remembered ringing for the Coronation. This is an extract from a letter the Guild received on the subject:

"I rang for the Queen's coronation at Abindon, Oxfordshire, where I learnt to ring at ST Nicholas Church, which in on the Market Square, opposite the Town Hall. I have no idea what we rang but I do remember watching from the window of the ringing chamber, the buns being thrown from the Town Hall to the people on the Market Square. This is an ancient tradition in Abingdon for very special occasions."
