With sadness we report the death of John Nicholls, on Thursday 25th August, in hospital.

John was the long serving Tower Captain and Churchwarden of St John the Evangelist, Caldecott, and had
been very much involved in village life there. He was a faithful member of the congregation and a current
member of the PCC.

John lived in Rockingham for much of his life and moved to Uppingham a few years ago when he married
Gail. He worshipped in Caldecott, enjoying the choir and ringing , also singing at Gretton and, for many
years, with the Uppingham Choral Society.

John will be remembered for his kindness, helpfulness and humour; we shall all miss him enormously.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Gail and all John’s family.

A funeral service will be held at Caldecott on Tuesday 20th September. 2pm. Prior to private interment at
Rockingham.
