Remembering Private Frederick William Causby, Northamptonshire Regiment, 1st Battalion, Service No 20821, Casualty Number: 729457 on the 100th anniversary of his death.
Fred Causby was born in Northampton but, by the time of the 1911 census, he had moved to Rushden where he worked as a shoe packer. Although living in Rushden, he was a ringer at Higham Ferrers, ringing 13 full peals between 1906 and 1914, all on these bells. He enlisted on 9th October 1916 but was wounded in the thigh on 16th June 1917, returning to England for convalescence. He went back to France on 19th March 1918 and was killed in action on 20th April 1918, aged 41. He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, France, Panel 91 – 93.
