This week work started on the bells in St Mary's church Ashwell.

This tower in Rutland had been unringable since 1976. In 2022 a band did some work on the installation, and the bells have been rung a few times since then, including for the Jubilee and the Coronation.

The work this week has been to remove the wheels and clappers. Lifting beams are going to be installed to lift the bells to the floor. It is hoped that the bells will be on show in the church for a few days before being removed to Taylor's in Loughborough for their overhaul. Current date the bells will be on display is not confirmed, but it is likely to be later in the week commencing 17th July.

The next phase of the work has been completed. The bells have been removed from the tower and are on their way to Taylors at Loughborough for work.
