A communications pack is now available to download from the census webpage. Please use the census website as the primary source of information, as it will always contain the most up-to-date guidance, resources and announcements. The communications pack includes promotional posters together with guidance for Associations, towers and individual ringers, with graphics suitable for social media.
Please circulate this information through your usual communication channels and make sure that all your affiliated towers and ringers are aware of the census and have the opportunity to take part.
Key dates
- Census Week: 16-22 November 2026 (including Sunday 22 November).
- Questionnaire availability: 23 November 2026 to 6 December 2026.
The 2026 Ringing Census consists of two separate questionnaires:
- The Individual Census, which should be completed by individual ringers and seeks to understand people's experiences, participation, skills, aspirations and involvement in ringing.
- The Tower Census, with one coordinated return from each tower, covering band membership, ringing activity, learners, facilities and the wider circumstances of the tower.
Both surveys are important. Together they will provide a clearer picture of ringing today and help inform decisions about how we support and develop ringing in the future. Links to the census surveys will be on the census webpage, and again shared via yourselves, our social media and all other channels we can access, so when the time comes, please look out for these and share them to your membership.
Please encourage all ringers to complete the Individual Census and ensure that every tower is aware of the Tower Census. The Central Council particularly want to hear from as wide a range of people and towers as possible, so that the results genuinely reflect the diversity of ringing across the country.
