I was sorry to hear from Simon Dean, Margaret's son, that Margaret died on Tuesday in Coventry & Warwick Hospital.  He took her to the hospital on Monday suffering with severe stomach pains and learned the following morning that her heart had stopped.

Margaret joined the branch in 2000 as a member at Kilsby, having learned to ring at Braunston for the Millennium.  She took over as Kilsby tower correspondent in 2013. Margaret was a prime mover in getting the bell frame repaired after rainwater damage and having the rope guide installed.  She was a keen supporter of the branch and Braunston Monday Club, organising quizzes and making cakes.  Only last Saturday was her number drawn for the first prize in the Guild 100 Club.

Margaret was born on 30 November 1928.  She had been Mayor of Greenwich in her younger days and was proud of having started the first London Marathon in 1981 from Greenwich Park.

Margaret's funeral is 12:00 on Friday 28th October at Rainsbrook Crematorium, Ashlawn Road, Rugby, CV22 5QQ and afterwards at The George, Kilsby.

The vicar has given permission for ringing at Kilsby (4 bells, 10 cwt) between 11:00 & 11:45, especially as the hearse passes the church on its way to the funeral. Anyone who wishes to ring is welcome, it is about 10 minutes to the Crematorium by car.

Margaret expressed a wish for people to wear bright clothes; no flowers please, but donations to Cancer Research UK at the crematorium or in her name.
