It has been a difficult few days as the country comes to terms with the death of one monarch and the start of a new reign.  Everywhere ringers have tried to match their ringing efforts to the situation, seeking advice where available.  Some ringing has been cancelled and extra sessions have been arranged at very short notice.

Congratulations to all involved on their endeavours.  If you would like to send details to me to record your efforts centrally for the Guild, please do so. And, again, I will check BellBoard over the forthcoming period.

Both of the Guild events planned for this Saturday, 10th September 2022 did go ahead, but with modifications.  19 ringers joined in the Guild 10-bell practice which was held at Daventry with the bells half-muffled as a mark of respect on the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II.  Grandsire and Stedman Caters, Little Bob, Cambridge and London Surprise Royal were all rung twice to allow all the attendees at least one opportunity to ring and progress.

In the afternoon, a session on “Basic Bell Maintenance” was held at Great Oakley where the attendees and leaders of the session were asked to ring the bells unmuffled to mark the proclamation of HM King Charles III.
