Rung in memory of Private Alfred John Knight DCM, a Kettering ringer who was killed in action on 12th October 1917, age 23, while serving with the Machine Gun Corps (Infantry) 54th Batallion. He is commemorated at Cement House Cemetry, Belgium. His citation for the Distinguished Conduct Medal reads "For conspicuous gallantry in action. He fought his machine gun under intense fire throughout the night, displaying great courage and determination." It has also been stated he was the sole survivor of a gun team and at the end of 48 hours in no man’s land (26/09/1916 to 27/09/1916 at Thiepval, Somme), he succeeded in carrying back and saving the gun.
Their name liveth for evermore.

This is a one-part peal, having the 5th and 6th their extent each way in 5-6, with both bells five course-ends home. Taken from Bell News, September 24th, 1887, and believed to be rung now for the first time.
The ringers wish to thank the Rector, Canon Lindsay, for the use of the bells; also the steeple-keeper for having everything in readiness.
The bells have lately been rehung by Messrs Taylor and Sons, of Loughborough, and the "go" of them is excellent.
